Waterstones. situated in Torquay, is part of a large chain of bookstores catering for a wide range of reading tastes. We have completed a number of projects for Waterstones stores country wide including their head office in Piccadilly. Waterstones lease a lot of their property, therefore for them, cost effective options for any upgrade is important.
The existing roof had received various waterproofing repairs which had reached the end of their life and further repairs would not have been a viable option. The Contractor asked us to carry out a detailed survey. It was agreed that an overlay with our Proteus Pro-Cold® system, along with the security of our long-term guarantee, would be the best option.
Key Challenges & Solutions
The store remained in full operation whilst the works were carried out so the system had to be flame free to alleviate fire risk for staff and clients. Our cold applied liquid solution Proteus ProCold® was the ideal option to meet the clients’ requirements. Parts of the main roof had ponding/ standing water due to the existing roof build up deflecting, so the contractor cut out and replaced these sections prior to installing the Proteus Pro-Cold®.
Conclusion
The project was completed to a high standard using our Proteus Pro-Cold® system. Through our strong relationship with the contractor and the client, all elements of the project were discussed and planned effectively to ensure the previous issues would be resolved and that minimal disruption was caused to staff working on the site.
