Walkway Refurbishment: Crystal Palace FC, Selhurst Park

A communal terrace at Crystal Palace Football Club was leaking into the premises below. The brief was to remove the existing roof build-up and install a new Proteus Waterproofing system including insulation.

Product brief:

As the terrace area was in close proximity to working offices and accessible to the public, the system required to be installed quickly, have a low odour, limited installation noise, last the life of the building and be cost effective.

Key Requirements: High Performance Waterproofing

The roof coverings, pavers, insulation and existing asphalt waterproofing were stripped back to the deck. The Cold Melt® system was then installed, overlaid with new Proteus Pro-Therm XPS insulation and new pavers set on corner rests provided as a trafficable finish. Proteus Waterproofing worked closely with Proteus Approved Contractor to complete the project to time and a high standard.

Key Requirements: Health & Safety

When working in areas accessible by the public, cold application, smell and noise are important concerns. Cold Melt® is cold applied which removed the risk of fire, it has no odour and kept the installation noise and disruptions to a minimum.

Key Requirements: Long Term Performance:

Incorporating recycled rubber crumb and other organically grown products, Cold Melt® creates an elastomeric, seamless, cold applied waterproofing membrane. The Cold Melt® system can include inverted roof insulation. With or without insulation, it can be designed as a paved, ballasted, green or brown roof. The membrane does not become brittle with age, is BBA Certified 25 years. Once covered, may last the life of the structure. Made in the UK.
