Roof Refurbishment – Lowther Primary School, Barnes

Founded in 1929, Lowther Primary School in Barnes, South West London, had a series of flat felt roofs which had reached the end of their serviceable life and needed replacing with a high performance and long-term waterproofing system.

Product brief:

Following a site survey and inspection, which found the existing substrate suitable for an overlay system, Proteus Waterproofing was appointed to supply 146m2 of Proteus Pro-System®. This was installed by the licensed contractor during the school holiday, offering the school the most cost-effective and least disruptive solution.

Key Requirements: Health and Safety

As Proteus Pro-System® is cold installed, it meets all health and safety criteria for occupied buildings and minimises risk of fire. The low odour application allowed the Proteus licenced contractor to work safely and with minimal disruption to building occupants.

Key Requirements: Seamless waterproofing

With the project experiencing complex detailing and requiring a seamless membrane, Proteus Waterproofing worked in close partnership with the licensed contractor to successfully deliver the waterproofing application to a very high standard.

Key Requirements: Long term performance

Proteus Pro-System® waterproofing system offers 10, 15, 20 and 25-year durability options which are also available with independently provided insurance. For the Lowther Primary School refurbishment, Proteus Pro-System® was supplied with a 20-year life expectancy before its first major maintenance.
