Roof Refurbishment, City College, Brighton and Hove

Located on Pelham Street in the heart of Brighton’s bohemian and cultural quarter, City College Brighton and Hove is a 1960’s built former technical college which is currently working on plans for the redevelopment of its campus.

Product brief:

With the various roof areas of the college in poor condition and leaking badly, the building surveyor appointed the Proteus licensed contractor to come up with a remedial and low cost solution that would extend the life of the roof area, in light of the fact the long-term future of the college building is still pending. The application of Proteus Waterproofing’s Pro-Cryl offered a fast, simple and efficient application for the client, whilst providing exceptional waterproofing performance.

Key Requirement: Fast, hassle-free application

Offering a quick and simple application, Pro-Cryl is a cold-applied, fibre reinforced coating which is also UV stable. Despite the difficult access, detailing aspects and high level roof areas, this seamless cold applied solution was easy to install and could be adhered to the many different substrates on the roof areas.

Key Requirements: Health and Safety

As it is cold installed, Pro-Cryl also offers a low-odour application to provide the safest and most convenient solution on site for the licensed contractor and minimised the risk of fire. Working in a busy educational environment, the low odour application allowed the Proteus Licensed Contractor to work safely and with minimal disruption to staff and students.

Key Requirement: Quality control

Proteus Waterproofing and the licensed contractor worked in close partnership to successfully deliver the project to a very high standard within the required timeframe.
