New Build, Kings Court, Covent Garden

Kings Court, a new build construction located just off the main centre of Covent Garden required waterproofing to the commercial premises on the ground floor and residential balconies, totalling 2000m².

Product brief:

Proteus Waterproofing’s Cold Melt®, a low odour, cold applied inverted roof system was specified incorporating Proteus Pro-Therm XPS Plus insulation to achieve the required U Value.

Key Requirements: High Performance Waterproofing

Due to the low threshold heights, a combination of Proteus Pro-Therm XPS Plus and Proteus Pro-Therm VIP, a vacuum sealed insulation panel was used. This meant the U Value could still be achieved. Once the Cold Melt® was applied and had cured a range of inverted finishes were applied, including slabs and a Pro-Living® Green roof area.

Key Requirements: Quality Control

When working on new build sites safety is of the utmost importance, Cold Melt® is a cold applied, low odour replacement for mastic asphalt and hot melt. It is fast to install which meant the building schedule was kept on track with minimum disruptions to other trades. Proteus Waterproofing worked closely with the Proteus Approved Contractor to ensure the project was delivered to a high standard.

Key Requirements: Long Term Performance:

Incorporating recycled rubber crumb and organically grown products, Cold Melt® creates an elastomeric, seamless, cold applied waterproofing membrane. The Cold Melt® system can include inverted roof insulation and, with or without insulation, can be designed as a paved, ballasted, green or brown roof. The membrane does not become brittle with age, is BBA Certified to last the life of the structure and is made in the UK.
