New Build – Falcon Wharf, East Sussex

This new build block of residential flats set on the South West bank of the River Ouse in Lewes town centre, required a waterproofing membrane to the new timber decked access walkways.

Product brief:

Following a discussion with the Client, Proteus Waterproofing’s Cold Melt® system was selected as this cold applied liquid product can be installed onto a timber deck, removing the risk of fire.

Key Requirements: High Performance Waterproofing:

Prior to the installation of the Cold Melt®, Pro-Prime® SA and Pro-Carrier Membrane SA were first installed to the timber deck and upstands, not only does this give the Cold Melt® a reinforcement but also gives very high tensile strength and acts as primary waterproofing layer. Cold Melt® is completely cold applied, which removed the risk of fire and it’s zero odour were key benefits. Once installed the Cold Melt® was covered with pavers to protect the membrane, making the terrace trafficable and provide the client with an aesthetically pleasing finish.

Key Requirements: Quality Control

When working on new timber framed buildings, safety is of a paramount importance. Proteus Waterproofing worked in close partnership with the Approved Contractor to successfully complete the project to a very high standard, meeting all health and safety requirements and minimising disruptions.

Key Requirements: Seamless Waterproofing

Incorporating recycled rubber crumb and organically grown products, Cold Melt® creates an elastomeric, seamless, cold applied waterproofing membrane. The Cold Melt® system can include inverted roof insulation and, with or without insulation, can be designed as a paved, ballasted, green or brown roof. The membrane does not become brittle with age, and is BBA Certified to last the life of the building.
