Mirasol is a residential apartment building located in Eastbourne. The property comprises multiple leasehold flats, typical of mid-20th century developments in the area. The recent refurbishment project focused on balcony waterproofing as part of ongoing maintenance. The surveyor, familiar with our systems, approached us to specifiy an overlay system directly onto the existing asphalt substrate.

Detailing
Requirement for bespoke detailing at complex junctions and transitions was met thorugh site-specific detailing using the Pro-BW® Plus liquid applied membrane system.
Low thresholds
Low door thresholds requiring termination detailing without modification to the existing door frames were resolved by forming terminations with Proteus Sealant to create watertight junctions.
Drip edge detailing
Existing drip edge details requiring a compatible coating for the waterproofing layer were coated with the Pro-BW® Plus liquid applied membrane to maintain full system continuity.
Conclusion
The Mirasol project demonstrates the application of Pro-BW® Plus, by a Proteus Approved Contractor, in a residential balcony refurbishment setting. The system supported targeted detailing to manage existing falls, drainage, and thresholds while maintaining the original structure. All performance aspects were addressed thorugh established installation practices for the specified product. Support was given throughout the project by site visits from our experienced technical team.
