They were originally built with a metal deck, Polythene Vapour Control, PIR flat board insulation, and waterproofed with a PVC single-ply.

From day one, the roofs had leaked due to mechanical damage to the single-ply caused by maintenance traffic and bird damage.

Proteus Waterproofing® were asked to provide a 30 year waterproofing overlay system to the existing roofs. It was very important that the roofs were not be exposed to the weather elements and rain ingress. Additionally, noise had to be kept to a minimum due to the works being carried out during term time.

Solution

Proteus carried out necessary repairs to the existing membrane making the substrate ready to receive the new overlay. We then installed the Proteus Pro-System® Plus waterproofing membrane. This polyurethane, fully reinforced, cold applied, elastomeric, liquid membrane was ideal for the requirements of the school.Pro-System Plus supported by a British Board Of Agrement Certificate, stating a minimum service life of 30 years allowed Proteus Waterproofing to provide a 30 year guarantee to support the finished system.
