+44 (0)1268 777871Kaber Court, a multi-residential building in Liverpool, was experiencing significant issues with its existing roof system. The original membrane had become detached from the roof structure, resulting in excessive movement, noise disturbances, and an increasing risk of complete membrane failure. To ensure resident safety and restore the roof’s integrity, Proteus was commissioned to survey the roof and propose a durable, low-disruption solution.
Survey & Technical Assessment
The project required a fast and efficient installation that would minimise disruption to residents while also delivering a long-term, fully guaranteed roofing solution. Due to the size of the building, the works needed to be completed in three phases, and the proposal also had to accommodate the existing tapered insulation, which varied in thickness and required careful selection of mechanical fixings to ensure correct securement across the entire roof.
Solution
Following a detailed roof survey, Proteus recommended installing the Proteus Ultima AIRdhesive, a bitumen-based single-layer membrane system designed for rapid and secure application. The system was mechanically fixed, allowing the team to re-secure the existing loose membrane, create a stable fixing base for the new Proteus membrane, and achieve reliable adhesion and wind uplift resistance despite the varying insulation levels.
Outcome
The project was delivered successfully over three phases with minimal impact on residents. The installation of the Proteus Ultima AIRdhesive membrane restored the roof’s structural stability, eliminated movement and noise issues, and provided a fully guaranteed, longterm waterproofing solution. Kaber Court now benefits from a resilient, future-proof roofing system backed by manufacturer assurance, ensuring safety, comfort, and performance for years to come.
