Located in Hertfordshire, Greenshields JCB provides construction and industrial machinery to the Southeast of England. The existing roof area was suffering from considerable water ingress. The Proteus Waterproofing® technical team used their expertise to investigate the cause and provide a suitable solution.

Key Challenges & Solutions

Water Ingress: Proteus Waterproofing® carried out core sample testing on the existing roof build up which revealed extensive rotting of the OSB board decking which was fixed to the roof joists. The roof was stripped back removing the OSB and replacing it with a new 18mm Exterior plywood deck.
Proteus Pro-Therm tapered insulation was installed to introduce a fall to the new roof deck to improve thermal performance and roof drainage. Our Proteus Pro-Felt® Ultima Plus system was then installed to provide waterproofing protection.
Complex Details: Roof details included air vents, guttering and upstands adjoining cladded exterior walls. Existing air vents were raised to allow for Proteus Pro-Felt® Ultima plus mineral capsheet to be terminated and sealed. A new Metal capping was installed on to the perimeter upstands to terminate the waterproofing. Box gutters were installed to gain specified upstand heights, and cable housings were terminated with jubilee clips and sealant.

Conclusion

Proteus Waterproofing® worked closely with the approved contractor to provide a solution that would ensure long term protection. The Proteus technical team made regular site visits to ensure the project was progressing smoothly and provided expertise on any problems that arose. The building remained open throughout the entirety of the project so minimal disruption was ensured so that business could operate as usual.
