Coombe Girls School, Southwest London

Project Overview 

Located in Southwest London within the Royal borough of Kingston upon Thames, Coombe Girls School is home to both secondary and sixth form students. We were asked to provide a waterproofing system that could be overlayed to the existing asphalt build up across multiple roof blocks. 

The previous liquid coverings had failed, so we were asked to provide a reliable low odour system that would provide long-lasting waterproofing protection. 

Key Challenges 

• Minimal disruption: Due to the building being a working school, the project required minimal disruption to the pupils’ studies and staff working environment. The Proteus Pro-Cold® system provided by Proteus Waterproofing overcame this challenge, because of its low odour and fast curing properties. 

• Complex detailing: The layout of the roof area meant there were complex detailing requirements under the building eaves, around existing plant equipment and new roof lights. Termination bars were installed to all details, with the Pro-Cold dressed to them. 

Conclusion 

Proteus Waterproofing® provided a seamless solution for the overlay refurbishment of the multiple roof blocks at Coombe Girls School. Our Proteus Pro-Cold® system is now provided a long-lasting waterproofing membrane which will not brittle with age.
