Charlton Lido, South East London
Originally opened in 1939, the historic Charlton Lido was closed for a two-stage refurbishment which saw a new reception, café and seating areas built and the 50-metre heated outdoor pool reopened to the public. For phase two of the development, a new multi-functional gymnasium was created to provide accessible leisure facilities all year round.
To waterproof the new concrete deck and provide seamless protection around perimeter details, Cold Melt was specified. Offering a high performance waterproofing system with a simple, quick and safe application, it enabled the contractor to make the building watertight within just two weeks.
Suitable for a number of substrates – including concrete, timber and metal – Cold Melt is the ideal solution for a wide range of waterproofing projects. As a buried membrane It can also be installed beneath hot applied products such as asphalt. Its rapid installation and cold application ensure it adheres to the highest health and safety regulations.
Once protected from UV attack, Cold Melt will not embrittle with age.
Meeting the highest waterproofing standards across the entire project – from the concrete deck to perimeter details and hand rail brackets – the seamless Cold Melt waterproofing system is set to ensure Charlton Lido’s new Health and Fitness Centre will remain protected from the elements for years to come.
