Car Park – New Scotland Yard

The multi-million pound development of the Curtis Green Building on the Victorian Embankment into the new headquarters for London’s Metropolitan Police Service had to be practical, cost effective and efficient, while also using good quality materials from sustainable sources.

Product brief:

As part of the project at the new landmark home of Scotland Yard, the design of the below level car park in this historic building required a state of the art car park system, with Proteus Waterproofing providing 1000m2 of the Deckmaster System R for this high profile client. The specification for the specialist contractor also had to provide line and car park bay marking and a contrasting colour finish to the access ramp.

Key Requirement: High Performance: Seamless Waterproofing:

Ideal for multi-storey car parks and podium decks, Deckmaster System R is a cold applied, high performance waterproof covering that combines high rubber content and other organically sourced materials.

Designed to deal with vehicle traffic, particularly at heavy impact areas such as the access ramps, Deckmaster System R complies with BS EN 1504-2 as a protective waterproof coating.

Key Requirements: Quality Control

Particularly in view of the high profile client and a building where security and access was very tight, the main contractor requested Proteus Waterproofing and its Licensed Contractor to work in close partnership to successfully deliver the project to a very high standard.

Key Requirements: Durability

Designed to be maintenance free for 20 years, the British made Deckmaster System R is available in a range of specifications for car park roof decks, intermediate decks and basement decks.
