As the centre is focused on environmental protection, the green credentials of Cold Melt® made it the ideal waterproofing solution to use.
Key Requirements: High Performance Waterproofing
The existing green roof was stripped back to mineral felt. This was then overlaid with Pro-Carrier Membrane SA to provide a suitable substrate for the application of Cold Melt®. Cold Melt® was then applied to the entire roof and upstands to provide a completely seamless, robust, waterproofing finish. Cold Melt® UV Top was finally applied to the exposed upstands and details to protect them from UV damage. Proteus Waterproofing worked closely with the Proteus Approved Contractor to ensure the project was completed to a high standard.
Key Requirements: Health & Safety
As staff and visitors were always present while the works were being completed, a low odour system was essential. As Cold Melt® has virtually no odour, disruptions to staff and visitors could be kept to a minimum meaning the centre could run as normal. Its cold application meant the risk of fire was completely eliminated, and all health and safety criteria could be met.
Key Requirements: Long Term Performance
Incorporating recycled rubber crumb and organically grown products, Cold Melt® creates an elastomeric, seamless, cold applied waterproofing membrane. The Cold Melt® system can include inverted roof insulation and, with or without insulation, can be designed as a paved, ballasted, green or brown roof. The membrane does not become brittle with age, is BBA Certified to last the life of the structure and is made in the UK.
